Megan Melville, Vice President (Outreach and Engagement)
Megan grew up in Cedarburg, Wisconsin (but spent ages 4-9 in Germany on an American base while her stepdad was stationed over there for the Navy). She has been married to her husband, Travis for 18 years and have two wonderful children, Spencer (16) and Loralei (9). Spencer is wonderfully artistic, quiet, kind, and responsible. Loralei is spunky, energetic, and imaginative. A little over two years ago, Spencer came out as transgender and that is how Megan started to become involved in the community.
Wanting to learn more about what was out there for her son regarding support activities, Megan was introduced to a large group of parents to transgender children in the Twin Cities. After talking to them, Megan created the Parent’s Support Group (Now TransParents) out of the Chippewa Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center. Throughout her journey with her son, Megan has fell in love with the community and has a heart for LGBTQ+ youth.
Besides her leadership at the center, Megan is also involved in other nonprofits in the Chippewa Valley: Girls on the Run of the Chippewa Valley, RiverSource Family Center, Parkview Elementary PTO President and currently also helps the Safe Spaces Coalition of the Chippewa Valley and the Take a Stand against Meth Task Force for Chippewa County.
Megan has a love for Caribou Coffee and currently works at the one by the mall. So, if you ever want to chat, she often suggests Caribou or a coffee shop in general.
