COVID-19 Updates

Hey everyone,

I just want to make sure that everyone is up-to-date on the situation regarding COVID-19 when it comes to the Chippewa Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center. As of right now, the center will remain closed to the public until at least April 6th. At that time the executive board will come together and decide if the closure should continue or if volunteers, interns, and staff can return do their duties.

Furthermore, support groups and meetings will be held either virtually or postponed until further notice. Please contact your support group facilitator for arrangements. Unfortunately, this means that our annual Queer Prom is also postponed. We are hoping to have something for students this summer or fall. Please stay tuned!

Here are some resources for reaching out:

info@cvlgbt.org – general information, resources, help.
transgroup@cvlgbt.org or rhea@cvlgbt.org – Transgender Support Group
youth@cvlgbt.org or dan.hardy@cvlgbt.org – Weekly Teen Hangout
megan@cvlgbt.org – events, Queer Prom, outreach
pride@cvlgbt.org – Pride 2020 (Pride in the Park, Fundraising, etc.)

Please remember that this is only a temporary. We will get through this together; however, we must practice good hygiene like hand-washing and social distancing in order to slow down the spread and save lives.

Thanks!
Breana

Thanks for a Wonderful 2019

Hello! Welcome to the Chippewa Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center’s webpage. The Center has spent the last several years creating a safe and equitable region for those who identify as LGBTQ+. As a growing organization, we have seen a lot of changes, but we never have lost sight of making sure that LGBTQ+ individuals in western Wisconsin are accepted, respected, and protected. As we move forward into 2020, this mission does not change. We want a thriving community that promotes understanding, tolerance, and acceptance. We will not settle for anything less.

As the new year approaches, we want to look back at what we achieved in 2019.

  • The CV LGBTQ+ Community Center held their annual Pride in the Park in Phoenix Park, Eau Claire where approximately 500 people attended and enjoyed vendors, food, and a drag show.
  • We worked alongside Eau Claire County Board Supervisor Zoe Roberts to pass a resolution with the City of Eau Claire to recognize Transgender Awareness Week in November as well as Transgender Day of Remembrance.
  •  Queer Prom, where over 70 students from the Chippewa Valley attended, was a huge success!
  • We moved to our best location yet: Downtown! In the State Theater and Community Center.

There have been several other achievements that happened throughout the year, and I want to personally thank all of our volunteers and board members who made it happen. I’m so glad to work alongside them. They are truly one of the greatest groups of people I’ve met.

2020 is going to be an amazing and busy year for all of us! We look forward to everything that the Center is going to accomplish. Pride in the Park 2020 is going to be June 13th at Phoenix Park in Eau Claire once again. If you are interested in planning and volunteering at the event, email: pride@cvlgbt.org

If you are interested in other volunteer efforts or learning more about what resources we have, email: info@cvlgbt.org

Thank you, Happy Holidays! See you in 2020.
