For October we're keeping things festive with our new additions to the library, featuring witches and more to help get you through to Halloween. The first two books come from the exciting publisher, Power & Magic Press, whose admirable mission "is the creative and economic empowerment of queer creators, creators of color, and creators at the intersections. The driving force behind P&M Press is Joamette Gil, a queer Afro-Cuban cartoonist and editor of the award-winning POWER & MAGIC: The Queer Witch Comics Anthology." About that award-winning graphic novel mentioned, well, that brings us to our first new acquisition!
"Power & Magic: The Queer Witch Comics Anthology Volume One"
This beautiful graphic novel stands out not just for how well it fits with season and upcoming Halloween, but for the bold direction it takes both in its inclusivity and creativity. It's a wonderfully blending graphic anthology that invites new and interesting interpretations of witchcraft and witches, all in stunning array of artistic styles.

"Power & Magic: The Queer Witch Comics Anthology Volume Two"
And there's a second volume! Not exactly a series so much as an expansion on the foundation the first volume laid, there's even more art, words, and witchy goodness to enjoy!

"Vintage" by Steve Berman
Finally, we're also adding the 13th anniversary edition of "Vintage" by Steve Berman because if witches weren't enough, how about ghosts? This boy-meets-ghost novel is full of chills and thrills, tender moments captured in a spellbinding voice.
From the website: "On a chilly, autumn night, on a lonely New Jersey highway, a teenager meets the boy of his dreams dressed in vintage clothing. When the boy vanishes, the teenager discovers he’s encountered the local legend, the ghost of a young man who died four decades earlier and has haunted that stretch of road ever since. Curious and smitten, the next evening the teen returns with his best friend. So begins an unusual story of boy-meets-ghost complete with Ouija boards, hours spent in cemeteries, scares and macabre humor. This new edition of the book, to celebrate its thirteenth anniversary, features a new introduction by New York Times best-selling author Holly Black."
